SRA & SRC Slip Resistance Work Boots

Preventing workplace slips, trips and falls can save you from unnecessary days off work and the cost of treating those injuries.
Over 23% of serious workplace mechanism claims were caused by preventable slips (Safe Work Australia, 2020).
One proactive step you can take to avoid such incidents is to ensure that your shoes are slip-resistant SRA or SRC rated.
Which Rating Do You Need?
Take into consideration what type of environment you will work in and the floor conditions as this will affect the level of slip resistance you require.
Materials and liquids you might come into contact with are also important to think about when choosing shoes for your workplace.
For example, tradesmen and women commonly work on loose, natural materials which can get stuck in SRC approved outsoles (road tyres), lessening their slip resistance effectiveness.
A better choice would be a larger tread design (think mud tyres) that may only achieve an SRA rating but suit their specific work conditions and environment.
SRA - What does that mean?
SRA rated footwear has been tested on ceramic tiles with a soapy solution to meet the approved safety standards.
SRC - Do I need a higher rating?
SRC simply means that the shoe has been tested in SRA conditions (mentioned above) but ALSO passed SRB testing for oil on metal (steel floor).
This slip resistance rating is the highest safety rating that outsoles can be approved for.
